2025/2026 Statistics: In 2025, over 3,900 ADA-related website lawsuits were filed—a 20% increase over the previous year. Approximately 70% of these cases targeted the e-commerce sector.
Key Insight: So-called "Accessibility Widgets" (overlay solutions) do not provide legal immunity. In nearly 25% of cases, companies were sued despite—or specifically because of—using these overlays, as they fail to resolve underlying semantic flaws in the source code.
3. Technical Standards: WCAG 2.2 as the Baseline
